私が初めて買ったDVDです。そしてすっかりDVDというメディアの虜になったのもこの一枚がきっかけです。「巻き戻したり早送りしたりしなくても一発で見たいシーンに行けるんだ」「一時停止にしてもこんなに画像が鮮明だ」「吹き替えも字幕も自由自在に入れ替えることが出来るんだ」「本編以外にもこんなに特典映像が盛り込まれているんだ」等々。今となっては何を当たり前なことに感激しているんだという感じですが、ビデオの全盛期に10代20代を過ごした私にとってそれは驚き以外の何者でもありませんでした。それから数年、世紀は変わり、DVDレコーダーはハードディスクに長時間録画が可能になり、秘蔵映画が続々とソフトになっています。１枚500円を切るソフトだってあるのです。パソコンや携帯の様に、DVDは持っていて当たり前のツールになりました。これぞIT革命そのものです。
そんな中で発売されるソフトには自ずから「作り」の優劣があります。そしてこの『チャーリーズ・エンジェル』はやはり一等優れていると言っていいでしょう。メインメニューの凝った作り、特典映像の豊富さ、ビデオクリップの収録、そして作品自体がDVDという媒体に極めてフィットしています。CGと実写が見事に融和し、クイック＆スローが効いたアクション、ポップで艶やかな画面の色彩、細部にこだわった短いイメージの連なり…。
今や単に映像を焼き付けただけに過ぎない様な、制作側に映画に対しての愛情が感じられないソフトが粗製濫造されています。安価に名作が手に入るのはありがたいことですが、次なる媒体が台頭した時でも残しておきたい様なものはどれ位あることでしょう（DVDはハイビジョンに対応していなく、数年後には頭打ちになるなんて情報があります）。続々と廉価版が出ているこのソフト。しかし作り手の心意気を感じるこのコレクターズエディションこそ愛蔵の一品です。良いめぐりあいでした。映画本編の魅力についてはまたの機会に。

キャメロン・ディアス、ドリュー・バリモア、ルーシー・リューの魅力が爆発炎上する気分爽快な映画！あり得ないアクションの数々と共に３人のコスプレが堪能出来るので、個人的には「コスプレ・アクション映画」だと思っています。
特にディアスのキュートさは半端ではありません。彼女がMCハマーの曲に合わせて踊るシーンや男性トイレで用を足すシーンなどは可愛すぎ。それに映画の中のディアスは本当に楽しそうで、彼女を見ていると「どうせ生きるなら楽しく生きよう」と思わせられます。
映画の最後にオマケ的に収録されているNG集？ではエンジェル達が爆笑しています。それを見ると楽しい雰囲気の中で作られた映画ということが分かります。
私が住んでいるL.A.が映画の舞台になっているので、サン・ペドロ港、グリフィス天文台、ハリウッド等お馴染みの場所が出てきます。自分が「映画の中の世界に住んでいる」事を実感しました。
