ジャミロクワイの記念すべきファーストアルバム。
作品はどこか原始的で、民族的な雰囲気を思わせる音楽で、ジャミロクワイの原点を表現しているようだ。私はイギリス版しか持っていないのだが、そのジャケットがまさに本作品の雰囲気を表している。
雰囲気は約一年後にリリースされた「The return of the space cowboy」よりもやや明るい。が、タイトルどおり、「地球の危機」をどこか感じさせるような側面がある。
収録にはあまり時間をかける事ができなかったようだが、それが当時のジャミロクワイをありのまま自然に表現している。
「Travelling Without Moving」や「Synkronized」でジャミロクワイファンになった人にはぜひ聴いてほしい。
尚日本版・英国版・米国版でそれぞれデザインが違い、限定版などもある。

This is a wild offering from JMJ. Starts of with an orgasmic calypso fanfare that absolutely knocks me out, every time I hear it. I loose all sense of time and space durring it. It's long, but its such a groove, it could go on all night, and it wouldn't be too long for me. Maybe the most stimulating piece of music I have ever heard. Then he breaks down the calypso into near-classical chops over the next several tracks. The last track, the B-side from it's vinal days, is worth getting for entirely different reasons. It's about :45 minutes of dreamy ambience. No rythm. No melody. This is as tranquilizing as the earlier tracks were invigorating. It has been my best insomnia remedy for ages, and that's not a put-down.
