『ターミネーター』、『エイリアン２』、『タイタニック』などなどジェームズ・キャメロンのＳＦ映画は大作ものが多いですが、個人的には本作『アビス』が最高ではないかと思っています。ＳＦでありながら人間模様が実によく描かれているのに非常に好感がもてました。美しさと閉塞感を併せ持った海底のリアルな雰囲気の中でのパニックストーリー、個性あるキャラクター、おもしろいはずです。本作をとってなぜタイタニックの恋愛があのように描写されてしまったのかが謎です

全体的にお金がかかっていて、よくできています。十分に楽しめると思いますが、内容自体がそれほど濃くないので、完全版の150分よりは通常版の120分の方が100倍楽しめると思いますよ。完全版はいつまで経っても話の核心が見えないので半分くらいからダルくなりました。絶対に120分版でサクサク観るべき映画です。
悪い点・・・
シナリオが未確認生物の話と救助隊内部の確執の話が完全に独立して進んでいるため、ステーキとハンバーグを一緒に食べている感じで飽きてしまいます。途中で話の核心であるはずの未確認生物の存在を忘れてしまいます。この点は「惑星からの物体X」の方が良く出来てると思います。
良い点・・・
最後のシーンの未確認生物のメッセージがグッときます。深海の描写も薄気味悪くていい味出てます。エド・ハリスの男気も凄いです。深海600mを裸一貫で泳ぐらへんとか 笑
重ね重ねいいますが、120分くらいで観れたら面白い映画だったのに惜しいです、まさか完全版で損を
するなんて・・・

この完全版は、名作アビスでキャメロン監督が伝えたかった全てが描かれている。
３０分間の未公開映像を付け加え２時間５０分という見応えある大作となった。
原子力潜水艦事故に協力することになった海底油田発掘チームの活躍を描いているが、
”未知の深海生物との遭遇と彼らの人類へのメッセージ”実はこれがこの物語の核心である。
実際に巨大なプールを造り、水中で撮影しただけにリアルなシーンの連続だ。
キャストも個性的で魅力的、エド・ハリスの気迫あふれる演技は特筆に値する。
バッドが深海へ沈んでいくシーンは、いつ観てもゾクゾクする。
まさしくボクのベストＤＶＤシネマである。

You have a nuclear sub accident that just gets worse as it goes you have conflict between authority types and free wheelers. There is a love interest (attraction at a distance). Will he make it or is it out of time or out of air or out of distance maybe out of patients. Who knows?
Aside from the story there a re great effects and many panoramic scenes. There are lots of bubbles, an abyss and maybe some Ruskies. If you like all those submarine movies this fits in well. Again it is the people action and reaction that make the movie. Dont wait for some slam-bang surprise to appear out of no ware or you will have misses the story.
This is one of those movies that have to grow on you and then you will watch it again.

この映画は自己犠牲と人間愛、夫婦愛に満ち満ちた映画です。
下手なラブストーリーよりよっぽど人の愛情を感じられます。
夫婦仲の悪い人たちが一緒に見るといいかもしれません。
独身の人たちは、結婚がしたくなるかも。
主演のエド・ハリスの演技にはいつもながら脱帽です。
監督の演出もあるのでしょうが、動作の一つ一つが様になってて
グイグイとドラマの中に引き込まれます。
特に結婚指輪のシーンには・・・。
もう一つ・・・マイケル・ビーンの切れっぷりは映画を盛り上げる
悪役としては適任でした。。

世間的に、実はその実力に賛否あるジェームズ・キャメロン作.私自身、彼の監督作で「２時間の尺で本当に面白い」と思うのは「ターミネーター」（Ⅰのみ）「エイリアン２」だけなのだ.本作も脚本構造・画面構成等すべてに破綻なく上手く出来ているのに、何故か、ストーリテリングが弱い.～しかしだ.この作品ほど画面一杯に力感ある瑞々しさが満ち溢れた映画はそう無い.水生生物が形つくる水の帯のような姿、そのダイナミズムは映像から溢れんばかりに美しく、躍動感にきらめいている.この力感と潤いに溢れた演出は秀逸だ.初見は１０年以上前だが、私はこの映画に入り込んで彼等と一緒に泳ぎたいほどの高揚感に包まれた.「ターミネーターⅡ」「タイタニック」と「大旗振り回し演出」がカラ回りしたにも関らず「大名監督」の世界に行ってしまったキャメロンだが、本来の才能のコアを見直し、秀逸なSFアドベンチャーを今一度創って欲しいと思うのは私だけだろうか.
