バップの巨匠がフュージョンをやっているアルバムは多いけど、事トランペットではマイルス、ハーバード当たりをよく聴きますが、このガレスピーは、マイルスやＲ・ブレッカーとは違った雰囲気があります。楽曲もいいんだけど、ＢａｓｓのＭ・ミラーやＴ・バーニー、ＤｓのＢ・ウイリアムスのファンキーなサウンドに支えられて、ガレスピーの透明感あふれるＴｐが絡み合って、ちょっと独特な雰囲気を醸し出してます。

There is a nice playing of Marcus Roberts trio "East of the sun"
in Wynton Marsalis' album "Standard Time Vol.2"
I expected such playing to M. Roberts,
But! What is this ? What's happened? Strange.
This album sounds like a cocktail-piano.
Boring and annoying.
Cover photo and design are very bad taste same as this performance.
Maybe arrangement is bad.
Everything due to M.Roberts.
Because this album is all arranged and produced by Marcus himself.
It means his sense is bad.(I mean sense of music not visual,
I know he is blind)
